Join us at the Community Soil Lab at Cottonwood Urban Farm for our monthly Lab Lesson! The Community Soil Lab is a space for community members to learn about soil health through a whole ecosystem perspective integrating biology, chemistry, physical properties, and community knowledge 🪱🧪🥼🌱

Every second Saturday of the month, we offer opportunities to learn about soil health in our soil lab built in a shipping container on an urban farm! Our Community Soil Lab can learn about our local soils through tests including water properties (moisture content, water holding capacity), pH, electrical conductivity, NPK, and Fungi: Bacteria (F:B) ratios.

This month’s topic will be…Water Properties! Come learn about the intersections between soil health and water-wise gardening. We will be demonstrating tests in water holding capacity and moisture content for soils at Cottonwood Urban Farm. Hope to see you there!
