  • 5790 Compton Avenue Los Angeles, CA, 90011 United States (map)

About this event:

Join California Volunteers in honor of Earth Day for the Community Climate Action Day - Los Angeles at Augustus F. Hawkins Nature Park! This year, in partnership with California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, we are bringing communities together to take meaningful climate action. Join us at Augustus F. Hawkins Nature Park for a hands-on volunteer day focused on sustainability and urban greening. This opportunity is hosted in collaboration with LA Compost, LA Rec and Parks, City Plants, Northeast Trees, and Councilmember Curren D. Price’s Office and will focus on community tree care and composting. Volunteers will take part in mulching, tree maintenance, and composting activities to help improve soil health, support the park’s green spaces, and promote sustainable waste practices.

Purpose:

The Community Climate Action Day (CCAD) at Augustus F. Hawkins Nature Park focuses on a variety of sustainability initiatives aimed at creating a greener, more resilient Los Angeles. Volunteers will engage in tree planting, tree care and maintenance, and composting work, as well as participate in e-waste intake. Additionally, the Tree Adoption Program will give community members the opportunity to care for trees in their own neighborhoods. By coming together for these diverse projects, we’re not only improving our local environment but also promoting sustainable practices that will help mitigate the effects of climate change. This event is made possible through the collaboration of California Climate Action Corps and local organizations, emphasizing our collective commitment to a healthier, more sustainable future for Los Angeles.
