About the Workshop:
Join us on an enchanting journey into the world of Indigo dyeing! In this immersive workshop, we'll start by gathering the essential ingredients to prepare our Indigo vat. From there, participants will be guided through the art of basic tie-dye folding techniques, igniting their imagination to craft mesmerizing designs on fabric. As we dip our creations into the Indigo solution, witnessing the magical transformation into blue, we'll embark on a journey of creativity and mindfulness. Prepare to be captivated as we delve into the practice of dyeing and embrace the transformative power of this ancient craft.
This amazing workshop will be led by artist Eugene Lovick. In his own words, he shares the intentions for this workshop:
SLOW DOWN. Take a breath while doing something creative. Be present and let go of worries about anything beyond the moment of dyeing.
MAKE & CREATE: Remembering our strengths. The ability to use our hands to make something is empowering. We remember that we have the power to change things, affect them by what we do.
RECYCLE. Make stuff newer. We can update our clothing or add some new umphh! to pieces we already have.
About the Presenter:
Eugene Lovick began his creative life with a manual Canon TX camera that was given to him by his father. That creative seed blossomed into abstract painting, spoken-word, assemblage, electronic music, writing, and graphic design. Textile design is his current creative passion. He spends most of his time experimenting with block printing, tie-dye, batik and researching the history of Indigo and is usually searching for interesting fabrics and found objects to use for textile designs or looking into an Indigo vat.
