Driving Directions

Here are some additional tips to find our Compost Hub within Griffith Park.

Step 1 — Enter the park via Crystal Springs Dr
No matter which direction you are coming from, follow this road as it leads to our Compost Hub.

  • If you are coming from Zoo Dr, follow this road southbound until it merges with Crystal Springs Dr.

Step 2 — Turn onto Fire Rd
This is the main connector toward the Merry-Go-Round area. Look for the Griffith Park Visitor Center if you get lost.

Step 3 — Keep right on Fire Rd
Follow Fire Road as it leads you into Merry-Go-Round Lot One, then past the Merry-Go-Round itself.

Step 4 — Arrive at Merry Go Round Lot Two
Our Compost Hub is a short walk across from Lot Two.


Parking

The closest parking lot to the Compost Hub is located at Merry Go Round Lot Two.

If Lot Two is full, additional parking is available at:

  • Merry Go Round Lot Three (closer)

  • Merry Go Round Lot One (a bit farther)

Parking is public and first-come, first-served. Please allow extra time to find a spot and walk to the event.


Finding the Site

The Compost Hub is located across from Merry-Go-Round Lot Two. No matter where you park, make your way toward Merry-Go-Round Lot Two.

Once you arrive at Lot Two:

  • Head to the far corner of the parking lot

  • Look for a small opening across the lot and along the tree line

  • Enter where you see the LA Compost canopy and registration table

Event signage and staff will be visible to help guide you. When you arrive, check in with our team at the registration table before making your way to the event.


What to Bring

The following items are optional but recommended to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable event experience.

  • Reusable bags or boxes: For carrying flyers, plants, and other goodies.

  • A wagon or cart: Especially helpful for larger items like trees.

    • You can also borrow from a limited number of wagons onsite. Our team will be available to help escort you to your vehicle.

  • Water, sun protection, and comfy shoes.


More Info

  • All giveaways are on a first-come, first served basis while supplies last.

  • Tree adoption is available to City of LA residents.

  • Bags of compost and mulch are pre-bagged and provided in 7.5 gal burlap bags.

  • Bathrooms are available near the Griffith Park playground, just a short walk from our Compost Hub.
