In October 2014 LA Compost partnered with Enrich LA, Fellowship Monrovia, and OSH Hardware to create a garden and compost center on the campus of Monrovia High School. This garden serves as an outdoor classroom for an after school program and is facilitated by LA Compost instructors. For 20 weeks (10 in fall, 10 in spring) students meet every Wednesday after school to engage in conversation around the topics of food, community and education. Students also compost food scraps from the cafeteria weekly and use the created compost to support what’s growing in their garden. They host a table at their local farmers market, sharing their work with the community and providing helpful gardening tips.
